YOUR SILVER PENDANT (03/06/2017)

The workshop with Elisa was a gift for my birthday and it was one of the best gifts I ever got. Making something beautiful with your own hands is an unforgettable experience. Elisa explained everything very well and was very patient and supportive. I would definitely do it again and would recommend all my friends!

Grazie Elisa

THE STORY

My story starts from a September afternoon. At the time, my mother used to own a small jewellery shop: she loved antique jewellery made from artisans as she found them full of human warmth.
I loved the way she used to live her job. That small space inside town, first of all, was a chance for her to meet people. And I was starting to feel that space a bit mine as well, even if I had been studying and teaching philosophy all that time. I used to help her with the requests, set up displays for her and looked for unique pieces. I even learned how to fix some small pieces. At that time the old goldsmiths in my town told me they had the intention to close the lab down. One afternoon, without hesitation, I called them. All I knew was that I wanted to work with my hands to give a meaning to my know-how. I grabbed the goldsmith tools for the first time and I was 30 years old. Up to then I only knew how to read a book: I was really excited. I then decided to join a goldsmith class and, later, a gemology one. From there I became a professional really fast. Now my place is a place full of tools recovered from old goldsmiths' labs. Every jewel is made following the traditional techniques and completely by hand. This is why I like to tell people that my work is time, presence, physicality and breath.

WORKSHOP

YES, I DO - FEDI NUZIALI

Elisa, goldsmith

420

The workshop's goal is to create the symbol of your union, the wedding rings: they will be crafted by hand using traditional goldsmith techniques. The experience is divided in two sections: - First meeting: the design process The first meeting will last an hour or more, if necessary. We will have to choose the kind of wedding band that suits you the best and talk about materials. You'll be able to create it out of yellow gold, white gold, rose gold or silver. - Second meeting: the production process The second meeting is the real laboratory activity that will have a duration of about 8 hours spread over a single day. I will assist you during each phase of the creation process, showing you how to to use the tools and apply the techniques. Each participant will be making the ring which will then be worn by their partner. It is an experience with a deep meaning that is valuable not only for the actual crafting process but also for the experience of sharing. Your two rings will start as a single entity made of the raw material. Only with your commitment and your care they will find their individuality, their shape and their shine.
