YOUR STUCCO SUNFLOWER (24/06/2018)

Grazie mille!!!

THE STORY

High-end ateliers are the Italian way to beauty. A fitting and concrete match between passion and know-how. These are timeless places where you'll have no choice but fall in love with them.
My story begins in 1991, to give new life to an ancient tradition. In fact, the last stucco masters in Gubbio are traced back to the beginning of the XX century.
Vittorio and I, my future husband and extraordinary collaborator, invented the atelier. We pushed for the demand and we created the answer.
The “gipsoteca” is the place where plaster casts are preserved. It is a word deriving from Greek and later from Latin. That is why I decided to link this term to my atelier.
The world of plasters and stucco is so fascinating and evocative. It has amazing plastic potentialities and it allows to easily get closer to the world of art. Preciousness does not derive from the material, but from the final effect. The beauty overtakes the truth!
How does one of my creations arise though?
The model is created starting from an idea, a project or simply from an intuition. Later we create the mould that will be used as a die. In it will be put the gesso mixture to produce decorations.
Capable hands transforms the objects into unique pieces, by using colors, coats and gilding.
Let yourself lead to the discovery of this world. Get into my atelier, brush the curls and the mouldings. Focus on the search for the perfect detail, identifying it among all the others. Experience the attention to details. In other words...fall in love!

EXPERIENCES WITH PATRIZIA

WORKSHOP

YOUR STUCCO SUNFLOWER

PATRIZIA, artisan of gypsum

Are you ready for a journey among beauty? I'm going to take you in the fascinating world of stucco, a history as ancient as man. Imprints in mud can be considered as primordial molds. It all begins from the gypsum's dust that capable hands transform into artworks. With this you will prepare the mixture to be poured into molds that are made in the atelier. All the creative-productive process, in fact, is the result of research, experience and know-how accumulated over many years. Now have fun: wear Renaissance fashion aprons, use brushes, colors, soils, glues, shine with brass, silver, and gold leaves, paint with ancient lacquers, rub the beeswax, sign your work to make it unique! The sunflower tells the colors of our land, and his relationship with the sun according to the myth of Clizia, the nymph in love with Apollo. During this workshop I will initially present to you my activity. After an introduction to the ancient art of stucco, we will go through the preparation of the dough base. Once we have done this, we will proceed with the pouring in the sunflowers' molds. We'll then get ready for the leaf gilding that we'll apply to the pistils of the flower. Following this stage we'll decorate the sunflower using the brush, before concluding the artwork with the painting, the coating and the final lacquering. At the end of the workshop I'll provide you with the object that you created, the booklet, the Diploma of Participation and the “weirdo license” of Gubbio. This envisages a really particular procedure to be carried out, exactly in front of my atelier!
