I come from Brazil, and that is where I graduated in “Manufacturing Design”. After that I came to Milan to complete my studies with a Master's Degree Program in “Preservation and Design of the Landscape”.
I grew up admiring the beauty of the “AZULEJOS das casas de barro”. I was completely fascinated by their simplicity and elegance. The clay is an extraordinary element that occurs naturally. It interacts with the surrounding environment and it is malleable. That is how, as time went by, I realized that I was embracing all these characteristics.
Thus thanks to my experience and passion, I've opened my own Atelier in 2006. This took total shape in 2009.
I face every day with determination and love towards what I do. My purpose is to satisfy, to provide answers and to create something beautiful. I enjoy doing this by innovating an object made of clay through the help of the new technologies. Each piece is handmade, that is why it is unique and original.
In particular I'm trying to implement the use of clay within an Eco-friendly vegetable garden context.
For me, thinking and creating are two activities that go together. There is always an idea or a research that drives my actions. I continuously need to have something “alive” on my hands. That is the beginning. I have to put together stories, ideas, the respect for the environment.

CAFÈZINHO & COLORS
Monica, pottery designer and maker
My Atelier is such as a Home Atelier...where I often welcome friends and customers. The “Cafèzihno Brasiliano” together with a coconut pie and fruit juice is a strong charge to start my working day. A day full of choice related to colors and shapes. I offer a meeting of 1:30 hours for maximum 8 persons. I will show you that behind every piece there are traditions, research and mathematical knowledge. To identify the different working stages of the pottery you have to touch it. You have to observe the shades. A simple but fundamental study to understand beauty. In order to enhance the know-how of the potter master.
