HOW THE EXPERIENCE WILL BE

During this 2 hours visit inside the old workshop, you will learn about the intaglio carving craft, appreciating especially the technique commonly known as "foro-controforo".
You will participate in a practical demonstration during which all the various traditional stages of production will be displayed: we will start with the preparation of woods before going through the cut stage carried out with a small arch, then we will proceed with the assembly and sandblasting just before the glueing and then finish with the French polishing.
Moreover, we will discuss about other inlay techniques such as the so-called "a toppo" and "a buio".

SOME TIPS

If you want to set a different time for your visit of course we can arrange it.
The experience will take place only if a minimum of 2 participants are taking part to it. If you want to have a one-to-one experience please send me a private message and I will set up a specific schedule for you.

WORKSHOP

TAILOR-MADE DRAPERY

Rossella, tailoring

96

Creating the drapery is an art. It is an ancient technique that derives from the necessity to cover up themselves. It has evolved during time, continuously improving, becoming a real discipline to build a paper pattern. It is seemingly easy to do it, but it actually hides a series of specific rules that are essential for the construction of a successful and perfect paper pattern. We will design an article of clothing together and we will try to drape it. This will be a way to get to know the basic drapery knowledge. If you really are curious though, I suggest you to become yourself the mannequin. You can thus observe through your drapery how the article takes shape on your body. This is so by choosing the movement and the lines. This is a unique experience to understand how the fabric can change your shapes. It is all up to the way the draped fabric is used.
