With this experience we will travel along the creative path that I follow to make my ceramics; it is therefore provided a full tour of the laboratory during which I will explain the main stages of the realization of artistic ceramics and I'll tell you about the history of traditional and contemporary ceramics in Umbria, illustrating the tools that enable the production of my creations. You will also have the opportunity to do a little test of painting on ceramics. To complete the experience I will show you some of my works located along the picturesque street of the old town where my lab is.
My workshop is located in the old town, I suggest you some comfortable clothes.
The experience will last 1h 30m more or less and it's free for children up to 12 years.

THE COLORS OF CERAMICS
Maria Antonietta, ceramist
The creative experience is a path that we will do together in order to understand the important phases of the processing of ceramic art while creating a custom object decorated by you. In fact you will have the opportunity to get familiar with the ancient technique of majolica decorating an earthenware artifact made available by the laboratory (plate, cup or tile ...) or creating a little jewel. You will have a taste of history with paints and brushes in your hands: majolica is made in Italy since a long time ago (Deruta, Faenza, Amalfi etc.) and it consists in the clay coated with a layer of glaze and painted with oxides and soils. This technique is therefore the result of a long tradition, to which you can combine the originality of decorations: my ceramics are conceived in this way and the creative experience that we will share will confirm it. What you will create will be unique and, of course, it will be yours: you can pick it up at the laboratory after cooking or you can receive it by mail (in Italy) without any additional charge.

RESTORATION AND FAMILY
Maria Josè, restorer
We'll tell you the story of our artisan family, showing you the various activities, from faithful reproduction of vintage furniture, painting, gilding, restoration, cabinetmaking, up to turning. We'll experience together the emotion in the final creation of a wooden-tile. We'll use the pounce technique, the original gilding technique (“doratura a guazzo”), and/or the painting with colors prepared as our ancestors used to do. You'll keep the final artwork as a memory of the morning we'll spend together.

FIRST STEPS TOWARD MINIATURE
Anna, miniature and typography
In the wake of ancient amanuensis, the gestures of calligraphers and miniaturists are living again. In the XIII century they gave life to flourishing and eminent “Scriptorum” in Gubbio. It stands out the figure of Oderisi, narrated by Dante in The Divine Comedy, XI Canto of Purgatory: “non se tu Oderisi, l'onor d'Agobbio e l'onor di quell'arte ch'alluminar chiamata è in Parisi?”. A fascinating art, made of pigments and gold leaves, goose feathers and nibs, inks and a lot of patience and knowledge. The final result though, is unique, and what you bring back home with you is such a precious and original object.
