HOW THE EXPERIENCE WILL BE

Through the ancient technique of the gold leaf, the participants will create a photo frame in gold and silver leaves (imitation). We'll use modern materials and tools that allow the creation of the objects to be quick.
The frame that will be created will become a very personal furniture. You can collect it at the end of the workshop.
All the materials that we'll use are solvents free.
During the workshop we'll visit my atelier and I'll show you other working techniques that I use, such as resins and mosaics.

SOME TIPS

The workshop will last about 3 hours. It is thought for both adults and kids aged 13 years and above.
At least 2 participants. Each person will be equipped with working gloves. It is recommended to wear comfortable clothing.
My atelier is very close to Sesto Fiorentino train station, and getting there by train is very easy!
It is possible to agree upon a different time from that specified.

We will start our workshop from the knowing of the materials and the tools, and a little journey around colors. The participants will create a wall mirror of 40x40 cm, that will have a glass mosaic frame. This mirror will turn into one of their own personal home feature. While waiting for the glue to dry out, we will visit the atelier and we will talk about the other working techniques that I use, such as that with the resins.

WORKSHOP

BURIN ENGRAVING CLASS

Negar, goldsmith

70

During the experience in my showroom I will tell you about the burin engraving applied to goldsmith craft, we will have a brief conversation on this special technique from the traditional Florentine goldsmith culture to the contemporary usage. You will watch, touch and observe the jewels engraved following different techniques. Then we will move to my lab where I'll show you the manufacturing stages, the preparation of metallic sheet, the description of different types of burin and their usage, how to deal with some of my equipment. Of course I will also have a brief exhibition so that you will better understand the different kind of engraving. In the second part of the experience we will prepare the drawing that we are going to engrave, you will understand how to use the burin in order to sign the sketch. Now you can finally try it yourself, engrave the pattern and polish your artifact before having some final consideration. You will have the chance to take your creation away with you.
