HOW THE EXPERIENCE WILL BE

A full-day experience side by side with the young artisan of wood in the amazing scenario of Valtellina. You will realize a "RJR" chair (the official chair of Expo 2015) made of chestnut and/or oak wood, recovered from vintage wine barrels.
For the lunch break you will taste the real flavor of the traditional Valtellina's food, in a restaurant with a special view, just a walk outside the lab.
The adventure will continue in a local wine cellar where you will learn about the famous Sfürzat, a typical wine of the area.
After that we will get back to the lab to finish our work, so that you can bring your chair home at the end of the day.

SOME TIPS

I suggest you a very comfortable apparel: it could be an apron or a coverall, a comfortable pair of shoes, also because we are going to visit the cellar and maybe the vineyard!

But most of all, come here in a proactive mood and willing to learn!

If you arrive here by train, I can come to the Ponte in Valtellina station with my car and bring you back as well, it's just a 4 minutes drive surrounded by vineyards!

WORKSHOP FOR DYEING AND WORKING WOOL

Simona, breeding and wool production

84

An entire day dedicated to wool and your own creativity. The movements used to thread wool are very old and well studied; during the duration of our course we will analyze two different types of wool: one from an alpaca and one from a sheep and learn the proprieties of each in turn. We will also be coloring the wool with objects that are 100% natural. In the end we will create something fun allowing your creativity to run free. At 9:30 am you are welcome to visit our alpacas, then we will analyze the two different wools (sheep and alpaca). Preparing and learning about natural coloring methods • Lunch • Learning how to thread the wool • Dyeing our wool • Making our own creation with the dyed product.

WORKSHOP

WOOD FOR KIDS

Paolo, joiner

30

Creativity and dexterity are concepts that should be encouraged from an early age. This hands-on workshop is designed as a sensorial itinerary for children, even at they first experience with woodworking. The meeting will begin with an interactive explanation of the various tools, we will hear the noise they make and try them, we will touch and smell the different types of wood to learn the differences in accordance with a game to know and recognize. After this brief introduction, the kids will be ready to put the "hands-on". Depending on the available materials in the laboratory, the "young carpenter" will create an object, which will always be different from time to time so that they can also have a wow effect at the end of the activity.
