Creativity and dexterity are concepts that should be encouraged from an early age. This hands-on workshop is designed as a sensorial itinerary for children, even at they first experience with woodworking. The meeting will begin with an interactive explanation of the various tools, we will hear the noise they make and try them, we will touch and smell the different types of wood to learn the differences in accordance with a game to know and recognize. After this brief introduction, the kids will be ready to put the "hands-on". Depending on the available materials in the laboratory, the "young carpenter" will create an object, which will always be different from time to time so that they can also have a wow effect at the end of the activity.
Wear comfortable clothes, sneakers and come here to have some fun!

THE MAGIC IN WOOD BENDING
Paolo, joiner
Through this experience we will show you all the steps of stratification and bending of the wood's essences, which allows us to realize objects such as bicycles' handlebars, mudguards and pedals. We will brand together the handlebar (for the occasion we will brand it also with the Italian Stories' logo) that you will choose and refine before you'll bring it home with you.

RIM: BASICS OF AEMILIA ARS
Francesca, lacemaker
In this hands-on workshop you will have the opportunity to learn from scratch to create a series of four trims: starting from the easiest the student will be brought to face a number of difficulties until the last in which is summarized all the route taken. From the preparation of the paper, the tacking and the execution. This experience will give you the chance to apply the piping learned to all the personal linen already trimmed: curtains, towels, napkins or party favors for ceremonies etc. etc .. It is a job for everyone, simple but that will give you great satisfaction!

VALTELLINA...IN A BITE!
Maurizio, joiner
A full-day experience side by side with the young artisan of wood in the amazing scenario of Valtellina. You will realize a "RJR" chair (the official chair of Expo 2015) made of chestnut and/or oak wood, recovered from vintage wine barrels. For the lunch break you will taste the real flavor of the traditional Valtellina's food, in a restaurant with a special view, just a walk outside the lab. The adventure will continue in a local wine cellar where you will learn about the famous Sfürzat, a typical wine of the area. After that we will get back to the lab to finish our work, so that you can bring your chair home at the end of the day.
